The IBV focuses on Social Justice and Economic Justice. The US is quickly becoming a 3rd world nation. Ten percent of the population owns over 70 percent of the wealth. Because of this this the American dream is dying. And while these issues effect all Americans, Black America is the hardest hit. The following are disturbing facts:
-Black Family home ownership is at the lowest rate since the 1960s
-40% of the Homeless are black
-There is a direct correlation between Poverty, crime and social justice
-Systemic racism is the major cause of wealth inequality in America
So how do we fix this? We must demand political objectives that focus on the root Causes.
Objectives of IBVG:
1.) Access To Capital for Black Owned Business
2.) Support of Black Owned Banks
3.) Alternate Funding for Black Owned Business
4.) A Fair Share Agenda – Focus on Corporate greed – Anti-trust, Taxes, Housing, etc.
5.) Fair Federal and Local Contracts – Less than 2% of contracts go to black owned businesses
6.) Focus on Living Wage – Minimum wage is not the same as living wage
7.) A Middleclass growth plan – Grow the middle class to fight poverty
8.) Education – Focus on the root cause – Qualified teachers in low-income areas
9.) HBCU’s – Must be strengthen through funding
10.) National Police Review – Guide Lines on Police use of force
